In the world there is no privacy Everywhere you go there are eyes watching you without you knowing it Its everywhere and yet people like us have no control over it Big brother as the book describe as a great leader which is a ruler who protect and watching over people in Oceania Although people saw his picture with the big caption Big brother is watching you Yet he was never appeared in the story I do think big brother exist today in 2013 What I think is big brother is our government in todays societyEven though the society in 1984 book is being describe differently compared to 2013 There are some similarities in the book as well as in todays society For example the telescreen is everywhere in 1984 where you could be watched over Today we have all kind of social media like Facebook MySpace and people would easily find out what we are up to without us knowing The way big brother always watching in the book it make me thought of Orwells 1984 prove to be prophetic We live in a world of manipulation and controlIn our modern day there is technology like street lights that can spy installed in some American city It can capture images and count people for the police and even record conversation of people passing by this is exactly what George Orwell describe in 1984 where government can monitoring and observe the citizens They abuse the power of technology for their own good The party seeks power entirely for its own sake page 43 Winston who doesnt believe in the big brother and he doesnt really know if the big brother exited In the end he finally understands and loves the big brother We are talking about the privacy right that each individual have In todays society people have the privacy where they can block someone from their profile and the fourth amendment right protects people
