Genesis is the well known Christian creation story This myth and others like it were created in earlier times to explain the unanswerable questions in society Unable to know where mankind and the earth originated stories such as Genesis evolved These writings provided their believers with a sense of security in their existence as human and the environment surrounding them Genesis begins with a supreme being God This God has always existed and is the sole reason for all of creation Humans have found the need to have a superior controller of the unknown This God takes the darkness and void and creates time itself He separates lightness from darkness which He calls Night and Day He then creates Heaven and Earth land and water On the land God makes plant life seed and fruit bearing trees He creates the stars in the heaven the sun and moon He places animals on land and in the water Fish in the ocean and reproducing mammals on land Final but most important God creates man He calls him Adam Adam is put in charge of all these creatures In six days all this was achieved and on the seventh day God pauses from all his work to rest and make this day holy Civilization today has adopted a seven day week in which the seventh Sunday is kept sacred and is intended for worshipping God at church The Sabbath day is a representation of the day God rested in Genesis After all this work God takes man and from his rib creates woman Woman is of Adam and the story is told that God says Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave to his wife and they shall be one flesh This is symbolic of the entire process of marriage A man and woman will leave their parents to be joined together as one and begin their own family Adam
