Charles Milles Manson who was born an illegitimate child in Cincinnati Ohio on November 12 1934 On his birth certificate appeared the name no name Maddox -a boy Steffens His mother Kathleen Maddox was a sixteen year old prostitute Her parents were very strict and most think that is what drove Kathleen to live on the streets His fathers name was Colonel Scott Even though Charlie knew who his father was and where he lived Charlie chose never to meet him It was said throughout the Manson family that Charles told a story often about his childhood Mom was in a caf one afternoon with me on her lap The waitress a would-be mother without a child of her own jokingly told my Mom shed buy me from her Mom replied A pitcher of beer and hes yours The waitress set up the beer Mom stuck around long enough to finish it off and left the place without me Several days later my uncle had to search the town for the waitress and take me home Bardsley When Charles was five years old his mother was incarcerated for burglary During her incarceration Charles went from relative to relative After she was released from prison she tried to take care of Charlie She moved frequently sometimes with Charlie sometimes without She was not fit for motherhood Eventually she completely abandoned Charles and left him with family and a succession of boys homes When Charlie lived with his grandmother the Christian religion was forced upon him Some believe that this is what fuels his negative feelings toward Christians and possibly why he wants people to think he is God or Jesus Christ When Charles was fourteen he was accepted into Boys Town an acclaimed orphanage in Nebraska He stayed there for only four days He and another boy escaped and stole a car By the young age of sixteen Charlies criminal convictions list had grown to
