Emmitt Smith is a hard working determined running back who pushed himself to the limit and stopped at nothing to be the greatest running back of all time Emmitt Smith may not be the biggest running back ever to set foot on the field but his heart makes him a monsterCraig Ellenport Emmitt James Smith III grew up in Pensacola a small city in northwest Florida He was the oldest boy out of all his brother but has too older sisters Growing up in a big family was very diffcult so Emmitt tried to help as much as possible His family as well as his education and sports meant everything to him Emmitt smith attended a private school for 2 years but stopped and went to public school because the tuition was too much for the parents to bare In high school it didnt take Emmitt long to show to everyone that he had what it took to be the best Emmitt started for the Varsity Football team as a freshman He he helped to push his team to a 7-3 record which was first winning season in 7 years His sophmore year He rushed for an amazing 2424 yards and 26 touchdowns He aslo lead his team to the 3-A state championship back-to-back By the time Emmitt was a senior he became floridas high school all-time leading rusher Also his senior year his high school Escambia was rated 1 in the country An All-America and three time All-SEC selection at Florida Smith established 58 school records in three seasons including a career rushing mark of 3928 yards He surpassed the 1000-yard rushing mark in his seventh game earlier than any player in college football history He also became the second freshman to finish in the top 10 in the Heisman Trophy balloting Herschel Walker was the other and earned freshman of the Year honors
