Ernest Hemingway went to Paris on December 22 1921with his wife Hadley They were located in a little cramped apartment where the conditions were hard Despite those hard conditions Hemingway and his wife were able to live through without any trouble He leased another apartment in which he worked on his writings Hemingway was introduced to some great writers and artists while in Paris such as Ezra Pound Gertrude Stein Sylvia Beach James Joyce and others These artists would soon become Hemingways friends and would also be the people who influenced his life and writing During his first two years in Paris Hemingway wrote political pieces based on the Geneva Conference the Greco-Turkish War the Luasanne Conference and the post war convention He also wrote non-political subjects such as fishing bull fighting skiing and social life in Europe In 1923 Hemingway and his wife Hadley left Paris and went to North America because he and his wife were expecting a baby After their son John Hadley Nicanor Hemingway was born they returned to Paris From 1925 to 1929 Ernest wrote some of the most prominent fictional works of the twentieth century Included in those books was A Farewell to Arms which was one of the very finest books to come out of World War One Hemingway wrote short stories as well and created the aesthetic theory which stated that omitting the right thing from a story could actually strengthen it In 1927 Hemingway divorced his wife Hadley after about six years of marriage Soon after his divorce Hemingway married Pauline Pfeiffer who in 1928 would leave with him to go to Key West FL
