Jack London 1817-1916 his complete name was John Griffith London and he was born in San Francisco He wrote more than 50 books but the most famous book is the one Ive been reading Except writing books Jack wrote novels plays and newspaper articles Many of his stories are about how hard life can be for both animals and human beings He had a lot of experience because he has had a lot of different jobs Among other things Jack was a gold-digger hunter and a tramp It was the autumn 1897 when some people find gold in Alaska After that more and more people wanted to go there to search after more gold to get rich To be able to get there through a landscape covered with snow you needed strong dogs with thick fur and strong legs to pull your sleighs In southern America at the same time a dog called Buck lived happily at a farm with all his friends his master Miller with his family He was Millers favorite-dog and was treated like a king Buck ran where he wanted and did what he wanted He was now four years old and a dog that enjoyed every minute of his life Buck had warm fur and his muscles were well trained The gold-diggers in Alaska would pay a lot for a dog like Buck Human beings are much smarter than dogs are That was what Buck thought until that day something very strange happened to him It was night and the family Millers was away Buck then decided to go on a little trip When he came to the park he met Manuel one of the farmers He walked next to Manuel trough the park and suddenly they met another man Manuel tied a rope around Bucks neck after he got some money from the other man What Buck didnt understood
