The Great Smoky Mountains National Parks main entrances are located along the United States Highway 411 at the towns of Gatlinburg Tennessee and Cherokee North CarolinaIt was first protected on June 15 1934 by the congress establishing the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Land achievement continued and on 2nd September 1940 President Franklin Delano Roosevelt dedicated the park The movement of the parks began when Mrs Willis P Davis fell in love with the beauty of the parks and she thought that the Smoky Mountains deserved more But the parks supports came slowly and there were debates about whether the Great Smoky Mountains should become either National Forest or National Park The Congress decided to approve the Great Smoky Mountains in 1926 In the Great Smoky Mountains National Park the pets are not allowed because of how they disturb the species and the visitors The dogs can disturb the predators calmness and can become violent Dogs also can carry some weird diseases that will affect the species and the smell of the dogs can affect the species to either lose their calm or to be scared of the dogs The dogs can also surprise many people especially children and disturb the visitors from watching the species Another thing that is not allowed in the Great Smoky Mountains is the drugs The parks disallow the people who are drunk by alcohol or drugs because of how dangerous the roads are and it can cause some serious damage to the species There are eleven picnic areas which has 1050 sites for people to stop by and enjoy eating their food People are allowed to bring their own food or buy food and eat inside the park But they are not allowed to give food to the animals living in the park The Great Smoky Mountain National Park protects the historic culture landforms and artifacts The landforms are capable for planting the crops and it has good
