BOOK REPORT The title of my book is Wuthering Heights This is a marvelous novel written by Emily Bronte The novel begins to take shape only after some degree of reading when I realize what is happening at Wuthering Heights in conjunction with Thrushcroff Grange The story beings in the early 1800s and takes place mostly at Wuthering Heights The author underscores the violence and darkness of man even to such a primal and universal degree that is impossible to overcome This novel was written in first person point of view This was told from Catherines points of view The protagonist of the novel is Catherine Catherine plays a prominent role throughout the book For the most part it is her love of Heathcliff which represents the crutch of the human struggle encountered by Catherine as well as other characters throughout the story but especially Catherine The antagonist would have to be Edgar Hindley Catherine tells of how Edgar mistreated Heathcliff and how He tried to drive Heathcliff away Hindley is a very evil man of satin as explained by the book Throughout the book there were many conflicts but I think the most important one is Catherines internal conflict with herself and figuring out who she actually is She does not know what she wants in life This is an internal conflict with Catherine and herself Another conflict is between Heathcliff as he grows increasingly preoccupied with his desire to rejoin Cathy the Satanic energy with which he may have employed towards the young lovers suddenly disappears This is an internal conflict with himself but still external conflict with Edgar The plot of this novel is very difficult to understand To understand this sense of inwardness one must explore the novel itself Overall content and structure is rather fractured although a so-called Satanic hero begins to emerge as a creature of darkness as well as rebellion and passion
