In the book Les Miserables the bishop of the town Myriel is a caring man who takes care of the ones in need Jean Valjean was convicted for stealing bread and trying to escape from jail After 19 years in jail he was released In Digne everyone knows that Jean was in jail when he arrives to Digne no one wants to help him out not having any other options left Jean goes to the bishops house Bishop being the good man who he is takes care of Jean and Jean thanks him by stealing the bishops silverware Police try to arrest Jean for stealing bishops silverware the bishop covers for him but in return he make Jean promise to become honest and truthful Eager to keep his promise Jean changes his identity gets a new name and now as a new person Madeleine Valjean he goes into a town called Montreuil-sur-mer in this town he invents a manufacturing machine which helps the town and upgrade Jean to town mayor Mean while a woman name Fantine from Montreuil who lives in Paris Fantine falls in love with a wealthy student who doesnt think twice before getting her pregnant and then leaves her without a care Fantine decides to go back home to Montreuil with her daughter Cosette but on her journey back she realizes that with Colette being out of a wedlock child she wont be able to find a job On her way over she stops in a town called Montfermeil Fantine meets a family the Thenardiers The Thenardiers own an Inn in that town they agree to take care of Cosette but Fantine had to send them money every months for taking care of Cosette When Fantine gets to Montreuil she works in Madeleines factory but her co-workers find out about her daughter and get her fired Fantine lost without any income doesnt know what to do She needs to pay for Thenardies
