One moment harmonious in its entirety masked with brilliant colors and even more colorful people Its quite unmistakable no matter where in the world this moment is its Mardi Gras The event itself has drawn a large gathering of followers from locals to internationals and has altogether taken on its own identities around the world Tucked not so neatly in Southwest Louisiana lies the women of Mardi Gras in essence the backbone of the whole event These women are truly the beauty of the whole show as Carolyn Ware put it Women did in fact play essential roles in the celebration but their work was mainly behind the scenes Cajun Women and the Country Mardi Gras Tradition The women stayed in their homes while the men went out on runs Across the world in Sydney Australia Mardi Gras is ingrained with international Pride a rich history and extravagant characters The Gay Mardi Gras has taken on not only the tradition of parading through town but also has roots significant to the events that played out in the Stonewall riots that happened in 1969 in New York Although Mardi Gras has many faces these days it has increasingly become entrenched in raunch and filth underneath the sheer fabric lies the beauty of it all The Mardi Gras women who are strong in beliefs and are an integral part of the celebration from the home to the parades Whereas the gay men and women used Mardi Gras to face the adversity of politics while celebrating their Pride In this moment people are here to celebrate before the beginning of Lent season their passion for their own traditions and their PrideMardi Gras itself is basically a time to let loose before Lent Lent is a period of conservatism and letting go of worldly things Traditionally it is a Catholic observed holiday but it is being caught on by Christians Memnonites and Baptists For the Cajuns though
