PAGE 1 Good and Evil in Books Genesis and Gilgamesh In the book Genesis and Gilgamesh the authors main points are good and evil Conflicts arise between the two topics good and evil Good and evil have been around from the days of Adam and Eve Maybe even before their time In the dictionary the word good means proper right and commendable While on the other hand evil means bad harmful Thus evil is supposed to be the opposite of good but if we were to take a close look we would see that evil is related to good In the book of Genesis good and evil was mentioned however God first mentions it In the book Gilgamesh good and evil is also talk about The gods are the one who spoke of good and evil In the book of Genesis humankind decided to disobey God and the consequence of that decision was evil in the sight of God In the book of Genesis Adam seems to good and Eve seems to be bad Adam seems good because when God told him not to eat from the tree of knowledge Adam obeyed when he was without his female companion When Eve was created things seem to have went from good to bad God knew Adam and Eve didnt know any better than to eat of the tree Eve was the one who disobeyed God she ate fruit from the forbidden tree and offered it to her husband The snake deceived Eve into biting into the apple What makes Eve evil and not Adam Adam knew he should not eat from the tree but he did regardless So wasnt he just as evil as Eve
