In the early 1930s close after World War 1 America hit a traumatic economic crisis that lasted for a whole decade causing generations of American migrant to suffer Most commonly known as The Great Depression The main reasons for America to be in this huge crises was due to inflation resulting in the wall street crash and a weak banking system resulting in banks as well as people becoming bankrupt under-production of goods by farmers Resulted in farmers having no jobs as the stocks was already overloading so they couldnt grow agricultural and sell to the factories and shops to avoid any loss businesses laid off many employees that worked in factories consequently resulted in people migrating desperately to find a job so they could survive The depression caused many people to become vigorous behaviour and crime rates when scoring high Americans were truly depressed and the well known American dream was demolishedThis crisis mainly affected the middle class and poor in effect this did not affect the rich most of the time benefited them as the poor and middle class came to them to work as labours at the ranches and didnt complain about low pay or hygiene conditions because they were so desperate they couldnt afford to speak up as they would get fired and once again become unemployed and soon poor starving and homeless so naturally labour work was competitive to get Thankfully the great depression did end after agonising years thanks to America president but the suffering of Americans is not forgotten Mice and men are about two men Lennie small and George Milton in California Soledad who are two migrant workers in the depression era who have escaped from weed in fear of persecution due to Lennie naive mistake of stroking a womens skirt and naturally her screaming and mistaking it for rape Lennie and George are characters who are completely different George is tactful
