Society these days is a group of people who share the same territory and beliefs In every society there are standards that everyone must follow to obtain internal acceptance These standards they put upon people can affect them in a positive or negative way For example if a person in a society has too many standards put upon them they are judged on everything they do and sometimes doing the right thing can be bad for them Second reputation plays a big role in society Society puts up so many standards that when you break any or dont follow them it makes your reputation go down the drain Also the hardest society standards occur when religion is woven into the everyday life of the people Having religion into the standards makes everything bigger because every step and move a person is taking affects the way god interprets it One play that presents standards in society is The Crucible The Crucible has many standards that all citizens in Salem have to obey These standards arent just any old standards they are religious standards connected with Christianity In The Crucible there are many standards that apply toward the society that Salem citizens live in These Standards are based upon the Bible because all the citizens there practice Christianity In the play the main society that is presented is theocratic and this is when the church and the state are both one and govern from both perspectives The Religion that they follow is a very strict form of Protestantism Moral and state laws are one and if you break a moral law it is considered as a state law and they can get punished for their action The Ten Commandments that the society has to follow are they should not lie have no Gods other than the only God not make any graven image and not take name of god in vain to remember the Sabbath day honor
