The rough time of trying to figure out a persons life that has ended seems to be more of the theme of Citizen Kane Everyone thought they knew Kane off of his last word rosebud Kane never really got to tell his story The story was told through people who were close to him Which probably wasnt a good idea I say this because everyone knew him as controlling and mean but it made a great movie Through the whole movie judgmental opinions were being said some people looked as if they were telling the truth but some looked as if they were just judging his life Nobody ever really knew what drove him to do the things he did throughout his lifetimeCitizen Kane is significant in cinematography and uses more of a deep focus kind of shot Deep focus is having everything in the frame even the background in focus at the same time as opposed to having only the people and things in the foreground focus When a filmmaker uses deep focus they can use many different actions When in deep focus mise-en-scene becomes more important When using mise-en-scene for deep focus it actually uses the whole space without the audience being confused Deep focus makes the cinematographer combine the type of camera lens to produce the wanted effect lighting and composition You see more deep focus in scenes where Kane has lost his control and gives the audience a clear view of the area Kane has power and also the area in which he has no power For example in the scene we focused on there was a deep focus on Susan while she was sitting at the fireplace doing a puzzle and Kane was sitting in a chair what from the looks it seems far away The shot shows a wide view of the room but also showed how empty that room is Susan has on what seems to be a
