Dreams vs Reality As the world turns some people look around and imagine life as a dream world Others look at the world as it isthe world of reality The imagination allows people to find an escape from reality to cope with the problems faced each day The play The Glass Menagerie written by Thomas Lanier Williams posses different aspects of how the Wingfields escape into their own little happy place The author expresses escapism in the form of wishful thinking imaginary fantasies and life in a home away from home Several different people always look at others and assume they have the perfect life Williams shows how Laura is far from having that perfect life In the eyes of other strangers shes terribly shy and lives in a world of her own and those things make her seem a little peculiar to people outside the house Pg 1592This quote shows how Laura is somewhat different from the people around her So she uses her glass collection to fill the void in her life that her loneliness has created Ill just imagine he had an operation The horn was removed to make him feel less freakish Now he will feel more at home with the other horses the ones that dont have horns Pg 1611 This passage posses logic and truth in Lauras life She escapes from a life with no friends into a world with many of them These friends are from her glass collection All through the play Amanda desires a better life for her children As life takes its course it never occurs the way others would like it to God wants the best for His children and Amanda wants the best for hersIll tell you what I wished for on the moon Success and happiness for my precious children Pg 1588 Amanda feels that if she wishes for her dream world now maybe eventually she might be able to escape from
