In this day and age labels are not only made for food clothing apparel and desirables but they are also made for people People are judged instantly by their ethnicity religion superficial appearance and background People even judge babies from the minute they are born Friends and family of a newborns mother rush to obtain gender-friendly gifts A boy will receive blue toy cars while a girl will receive pink plastic cookware Ironically being labeled is rarely desired yet people are labeled from the very beginning of their lives Putting a label on babies is socially acceptable Its understandable to think for a baby because they are not mature enough to make conscious decisions independently but unfortunately people continue to label other people after this stage Its common to think the young elementary boy will desire toy soldiers and sports balls while a girl will long for dolls however not everybody is the same Individualism is growing and those who choose to be their own person are not in favor of these labels This is because labels are a type of oppression for individualists Two particular labels a specific group of individualists the transgender group loathe are the labels of sex and gender Transgenders abhor this word because gender is commonly confused and linked with sex Sex describes the biological differences and gender describes masculinity and femininity NobeliusThe sex of a person can essentially be described as male or female The obvious difference between males and females are the private parts Males have penises and women have vaginas The testosterone levels in men are higher while the estrogen level in women are higher There are other biological differences between males and females like pelvic sizes but these qualities should not be confused with qualities like hair length Females do generally wear their hair longer than men but this is not due to biology This is because of personal choice which leads into the topic
