The night was bitterly cold as I stood on the slippery snow covered road I was in front of my home watching the bright orange flames dancing out of the windows They were reaching for the sky only to be knocked back down by a steady stream of water Im not sure how I was holding it together as I would glance at my phone just to make sure it was working and checked the volume button many times in case I might have turned it down Why is it not ringingThe day had started out like any other day before this I arrived at work ready to put in another long dreadful night at the Mountain We always have a group meeting before going out on the floor and I had felt my phone dancing on my leg I glanced to see who was calling me and it was my mother I waited until after our meeting to give her a call back as she was never able to keep my schedule straightI returned her call and she answered on the first ring Nancy I said yes mom Im at work but what do you need She started crying and was hard to understand her as her voice kept cracking and all I got out of that was something was on fire So I asked her again what did you say is on fire She spoke again and this time I heard My knees buckled and I dropped to the hard cold floor My eyes started to swell and I found it hard to speak I did manage to ask where my son and dogs She told me my dogs were at her house but and then there was a long pause and she took a deep breath and told me that she has been calling him but no one has heard from him yet did he have to work today My
