The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy was a cruel and shocking act of violence directed against a man a family and all of mankind This young vigorous leader was the victim of the fourth presidential assassination in the history of a country Although Lee Harvey Oswald was charged with this hideous crime the case remains a mystery to this day Was there a conspiracy And if there was did it include Oswald On Friday November 22 1963 President Kennedy Mrs Kennedy and their party arrived in Dallas Texas Accompanying the president were Vice President Lyndon B Johnson and John B Connally Jr Governor of Texas The purpose of this trip was to evoke a demonstration of the Presidents personal popularity in a city which he had lost in the 1960 election The motorcade left Love Field shortly after 1150 am and proceeded through residential neighborhoods until it reached Elm Street the host of a seven story Texas Book Depository As the open top limousine passed through the crowded street shots resounded in rapid succession President Kennedy had been killed No one actually knows who committed this crime but there are many theories attempting an explanation Lee Harvey Oswald is at the center of the assassination regardless of whether you consider him the lone gunman a coconspirator who was also a patsy or totally innocent Witnesses saw Lee Oswald in all sorts of places the Warren Commission said he wasnt in the Carousel Club on a shooting range talking to Maurice Bishop visiting Sylvia Odio Where exactly was he Sylvia Odio swears that Oswald was at her house on November 22 1963 A whole raft of Second Oswald and Alias Oswald theories imply that somebody besides Oswald may be buried in the cemetery in Fort Worth The documentary The Men Who Killed Kennedy gave creedence to such theories as well as an article written by Duke Lane based on reports from pathologists of
