When someone die it is most often his or hers closest ones that really experience a dynamic change in life This is especially so in The Lovely Bones written by Alice Sebold The story begins in Philadelphia Pennsylvania introducing the two main characters with first-person point-of-view The main story plotline follows the death of protagonist Susie Salmon Mr Harvey murders her after he rapes her underground in the cornfield Susies families and friends all reacts to her death in different ways some copes with her death with ease and acceptance while others choose to escape Sebolds choice of flowery languages depicts each character with unique qualities and traits One of the most significant trademarks of Sebolds novel is her illustrative and elaborative symbols accounted in it each one represents something important and chronologically links the past and the present together The flashbacks and foreshadowing events alludes to the resolution of the literary work The Lovely Bones is an original consoling work of art that focuses on the unique characterizations of characters and symbols which defines the novel as a whole Among the characters Sebold notes Lindsey Salmon Susies younger sister is the most dynamic Lindsey is very similar to Susie in that they are both sweet obedient girls While Susie is more mature and sound Lindsey is braver and upfront Because of Lindseys tough personality she rarely shows her tears and regrets to anyone One day after Lindsey is back from school Jack Lindseys father confronts her he asks Lindsey if she is fine Lindsey answers curtly Look Dad Im handling this alone Sebold 61 Lindsey at first rejects her father because she believes that no one in her family cares enough to tell her the truth While Lindsey doesnt need her parents comfort she knows that her parents only have her and her younger brother Buckley left The sudden physical change Lindsey goes through completely alternates Lindseys perspective of herself and the
