Bridget's feedback:
"This is a solid start, and a main strength is your use of direct evidence from the text. That prewriting and research work can guide the rest of the writing process, allowing you to shape your essay.
The treatment of scapegoating in this current draft is one area for focus. The concept as employed in your discussion is somewhat vague; it seems mostly oriented around examples of blame and accusation from the play. While these are elements of scapegoating, the discussion should push the analysis further: scapegoating implies a wider deflection or displacement of sins, an expression of guilt beyond or in addition to simple vengeance--think about the community and culture of the play's setting, as well, to get at the subtext.
As you refine the discussion, think about how to structure the essay. The long single paragraph is overwhelming for the reader; break the essay up into shorter focused units to help the reader recognize the flow of the discussion. Proofreading, too, will help with clarity and readability; watch out for unclear or awkward word choice that can throw your reader off."
