Interpretive Study Essay by Peter Blackwell The themes of the three texts that I have chosen all have something to do with the war The Survivor Author Robb White In the book The Survivor a man was a multiple survivor of a few incidences eg He survived being a prisoner in an enemys war camp He also survived drowning when the submarine which saved him from being tortured and probably killed in the war camp sprung a leak and began to sink Saving Private Ryan Director Tom Hanks Writer Steven Speilberg In the movie Saving Private Ryan a group of soldiers were set the task of going into war finding Private Ryan and sending him home to his parents because three of his other brothers were killed in combat Gallipoli Author Jack Bennet In the other book Gallipoli two young men decided to sign up to go to war only to be known and to be a hero I chose this topic the War because I wanted to find the differences and the similarities between the two texts Adam the main character in The Survivor role was to stay alive and he did that well I thought Captain John Miller Tom Hanks was the main character in the movie Saving Private Ryan He was a part of a great cast in the movie Archy and Frank were the co-main actors in the movie Gallipoli They both wanted to be known for being in the war Some links that I have found between the three texts are They all have something to do with the war Weapons are being used eg guns grenades They all show to people that dont know much about war that it is dangerous and never to think about signing up for the war because you probably will be killed All three of the main characters are either injured or killed in battle In the book
