During my childhood I had always learned to play various instruments including the recorder piano xylophone but when I began to play the saxophone it was a feeling I had never felt before Being such a unique instrument I can never really say that I was a professional at playing it As I began to practice I grew more accustomed to the keys and notes In middle school I signed up for the jazz band although hesitant at first I tried out and was selected to be part of the band As the sixth and seventh grade passed by I became better at playing the saxophone from hours upon hours of practice During our performances one member of the band would get a solo performance I had always hoped to get a solo but knew I wasnt good enough for it As the eighth grade approached I bought my own saxophone and began to practice over the summer I grew a sense of confidence in playing and hoped of asking the teacher for a solo performance School had soon begun and we began to practice for the winter show in which we would be performing I knew that this would be my opportunity of getting the solo Two weeks prior to the winter show my teacher approached me and asked if I wanted the solo I had never felt a sense of accomplishment like that before I soon began to practice the notes for my solo and thought I was well prepared for the performance As the night of the show came closer I was ready as we approached the stage the curtains opened and the audience was seated waiting for us to begin It was then that I realized what a mistake I had made The bright lights shined on top of us causing me to sweat and become even more nervous We
