He broke free from the line of scrimmage and was headed for a touchdown With the in zone in his sights he was pulled down by a defender from behind The referee will call a personal timeout folks the announcer yelped out The sound of his voice over the speakers echoed in my head as if the game were taking place in a canyon I jerked up but my feet were numb and I found it impossible to budge The air in my lungs seemed to be forced out of me all at once A chill ran down my spine It was as if the person on the wooden and creaking risers above me trickled ice cold liquid down my neck After what seemed like hours I gained power of my extremities I could only slowly make my way down the bleachers as I watched the trainer on duty rush to my brothers motionless body The other players on the field did as the curtsy calls and lowered their selves to one kneeMaking my way down to the field the trainer carefully moved him to his back and signaled for the awaiting ambulance to take action Is Joshua talking I mumbled The trainer pulled me to the side and two men from the ambulance wasted no time sliding open the back doors and swinging out a stretcher Lightly brushing my shoulder the trainer uttered He is okay as far as being conscious but his knee doesnt look at all promising Hes only twelve so needs a guardian to ride with him over to the hospital Ill follow you over there I hoped on the ambulance and immediately noticed that my brother was talking to the man helping him Smiling and joking about something said prior to my presence I felt a sigh of relief that covered me like a blanket on a cold winter night I was told to call my parents whom were both
