Atkinson wiped the sweat pouring from his scalp while cursing the heat He stood up from his work table and asked me for another cigar It wont be much longer now he said excitedly Its half past eleven and youll be on your way soon He turned his back and picked up the chisel examining it closely Then he turned back to me and asked You think its ready A smirk came over his face as he rubbed his calloused fingers along the sharp edge of the tool As he stood over me his face took a menacing glow He hovered a while lost in his own thoughts A cold shiver ran down my spine and I answered shakily It seems fine to me The instrument now resembled a deadly weapon not an innocent instrument needed to fix a table leg I glanced at the wall and was shocked to see that his shadow did not reflect his body structure Instead of the jovial heavy man I had seen earlier this shadow appeared inhumanly thin and elongated Im sure I noticed fur covering the face and sharp points protruding from the fingers mouth and crown of the head The beast seemed to be waiting eagerly for its prey I gripped the table tightly as I saw the threatening image open its huge jaw revealing fangs of several inches The laugh that roared from its mouth sounded so diabolical that I feared I would jump out of the open window to escape this terror My hands have become numb from the tight grasp that glued me to the table edge A voice broke the spell that held me focussed on the sinister monster inhabiting the walls James James I looked over as Atkinson backed away from the table Reality returned as I noticed that his appearance had reverted back to the friendly good natured fellow I had met earlier in the yard James he repeated Do
