Social anxiety disorder is the fear of the social situations that involve interaction with other people It is the fear of being judged and evaluated by other people People who have social anxiety disorder also known as the social phobia seem to be shy quiet nervous or unfriendly People that have this want to be normal socially They want to be able to make friends and they want to be involved in socializing This disorder prevents people from being able to do the tings they want People with social anxiety disorder have specific symptoms Some of which are being introduced to other people being teased or criticized or being the centre of attention Social situations where a person feels they are being watched while doing something public speaking or meeting other peoples eyes are also symtoms More rare symtoms are swallowing writing talking and making phone calls in public Some emotional symptoms are intense fear nervousness racing heart blushing excessive sweating dry throat and mouth trembling and muscle twitches Social anxiety disorder is the third largest mental health care problem in the world The phobia affects over 7 of the population The chances of developing social anxiety disorder at any time during a persons lifespan is about 13 There is a cure for this disorder Cognitive-behavioral therapy has a very high success rate People who go through the therapy report a changed life one that is no longer controlled by fear and anxiety Those people also have a high success ratio Certain anti-depressants are helpful as well The therapy and the medication together has proved most successful Medication without the therapy have proven to be only temporarily helpful Group therapy sessions also help but are difficult for some people to start off doing right away Studies show the prognosis in the therapy was marked very good The therapy helps the person realize they have a problem
