Considering the harsh and inhumane conditions of a Nazi concentration camp it is difficult to fathom that even a single prisoner survived the Holocaust The extreme measures that one had to go though in order to endure the prison life would impact a survivor for the rest of their life as well as many others who were not even there For years to come the inhumanity and cruel acts of the Holocaust will affect lives around the world For those who were not there the actual realities of the holocaust are often a dim envisionment of what actually happened This is possibly because many of the events that occurred were so unimaginable and traumatizing to the victims it is virtually impossible for them to express their emotions to anyone Some manage better then others and some will have visions trapped in their minds that will be blurred in with their view of everyday life forever But however a survivor chooses to deal with the issue it will never heal the scars of the past Some survivors resort to Unacceptance Because if the disease lack of nutrition and brutal torture was not enough to kill a man the realization of how he had survived almost is The most effective methods were among the most gruesome and for some were unjustifiable today Seeing a family member beaten tortured and killed was too harsh for many to accept So a common way to deal with the realities of what was happening was to see people as objects instead of individuals In the testimony of Rudolf Hoeses a commander at Auschwitz he states Women would hide their children under their clothes but of course when we found them we sent the children to be exterminatedReadings pg16 A human being cannot be exposed to trauma like this and live a normal healthy life So in order to survive many naturally lost the ability to differentiate individuals including family members
