It all started freshman year on the first day of English I Others told me that Mrs Sloat was a scary mean and strict teacher so I went into high school trembling with fear I did not think I could get through her class after hearing all the other students talk about her They always said she would make your high school English experience difficult and hard to pass Going into freshman year I was not ready for all the papers I was going to have to write for the next four years By the time I graduated from high school I was more than ready to write a paper She took us through steps to successfully write a proper and acceptable paper Some of the steps I learned for writing a good paper got me to the literacy level I am at todayFirst of all she taught me to use research to write my papers There are many ways to research your information that was needed to write a paper She showed us many websites and sources we could check and find what we need to get started on a paper By using research you know more information on what you are talking about so you have your facts straight and are not just talking about random things that you do not know if they are true or not While using research you also need to take lots of notes You cannot remember everything you research so write down things My English teacher brought us down to Edmond Oklahoma to the University of Central Oklahoma Library to do research for our term papers our junior and senior years of school Another big concept that she taught us of writing papers is picking your thesis Picking your thesis is not an easy task Your thesis is picking your best idea and pin it down in a clear statement that you can write your entire
