Through the course of my life I have discovered many talents that I now possess I have devoted countless hours to each and every one of my talents However without my parents I would never have discovered these skills Being raised in a typical Asian family my parents strongly urged me to identify my talents early on so I would have more time to practice and develop my skills Among my talents three of them stand out These three are math chess and violinMy adept proficiency in math was discovered in the first grade One day our teacher caught somebody cheating on a test As punishment she wrote a challenging math problem on the board and told us that we were to try to solve that problem for the rest of the day Once I read the problem the answer came to me in a flash My knack for math was then revealed In the following years I quickly surpassed others in this subject In fifth grade I was awarded Math League State Champion The same year I aced the math CRT which allowed me to take Pre-Algebra in the sixth grade However being two years ahead didnt satisfy my parents I studied Algebra I over that summer and managed to skip that course though a proficiency testChess was my first extracurricular activity I started playing chess when I was only in kindergarten My elementary school had a great chess coach Under her teachings I quickly became a good player Every year our chess club had an in-school chess tournament I won this tournament every year starting second grade Along with these tournaments I won several other tournaments in my career In third grade I received the title of state champion for my age group I carried this title until sixth grade when I temporarily quit Last year I picked up chess again with hopes of becoming a strong player again Because there was no
