Homer J Simpson The Simpsons may be just an animated cartoon about a dysfunctional American family famously known for its satirical commentary on various social issues but its appeal is certainly not limited to children I myself have watched and enjoyed the Simpsons growing up and amazingly enough still enjoy it today It is mainly Homer which makes the Simpsons as funny and original as it is Homer has been criticized by many to be nothing but a lazy beer drinking neighbor hating selfish and greedy person Some even perceive him to be evil In Homer and Aristotle Raja Halwani talks about Homers lust for food and drink his poor parenting and marital skills and his lack of practical wisdom But despite it all Halwani is still able to pick out some admirable traits in Homer In Homer Simpson Classic Clown Ellen Amy Cohen depicts Homer as the ever loving classic clown Cohen believes that Homers gullibility low intelligence physical appearance and child-like humor not only often makes people laugh but also allows them to see themselves as superiors In Individualism versus Paternalism An Analysis of Homer J Simpson Dan Rousseve believes and points out that Homer represents the glimmer of hope for society That despite Homers incompetent and child like ways he in fact is the character that has the strongest will to redeem himself which is a characteristic not to prevalent in society Although it is true that Homer may be a bit slow minded often acts spontaneously and has a weak spot for donuts and beer I believe that he tries his best to be a good husband and father In my paper I discuss Homers eating and drinking problem And
