When turning on the television radio or simply reading the newspaper we are bombarded with news of arrests murders and other such tragedies It is a rare occasion to go throughout a day in this world and not hear of these situations What should society do about this alarming trend Not only committing crimes wrong but today it is signing your life over to the government with the current trend of terrorism That is a risk you are taking when you decide to pull a trigger or plunge a knife into someone Is it really up to our justice system to decide ones fate Looking around the city I currently live in and see all that goes wrong I ask did they think before they acted There are many issues that address the question of punishment such as religion the effect on society restitution being denied the possible wrongly accused and the rights of the convicted But how often do these concepts creep into the publics mind when it hears of our fair trusty government taking away someones breathing rights The Bible reads Thou shalt not kill Is it a sin that should be amended within oneself Only the person knows that answer However the Bible also states Dont judge others personal convictions Is it the governments responsibility to punish people that disobey the law Is it their right to take another persons life Is it the Christian responsibility to point out to those who have sinned or committed wrong No it is the responsibility of every adolescence child young adult and senior citizen to raise their hand and admit their wrong doings when they occur Dont sit and wait for the other shoe to drop Step up and be responsible Dont you think if the government stood strongly by the statement on the dollar bill In God We Trust they would line up all the liars adulterers thieves and murderers and deal with them
