Republican Views on National Security As long as the United States has existed it has been one of the major powers in the world This is mostly due to their military which happens to be one of the best The Republican Party supports investing in and improving the military This must be done to protect the welfare of the citizens of this nation Even though the United States is one of the most powerful nations it still must continue to add to the national security If this nation fails to improve the security this will cause the unfortunate downfall of the country The Republican Party believes that the American people want a safe and powerful country I have to agree with this I do not want to be afraid every time I leave my home I dont think that Americans will be able to cope if warfare began with another country and this nation was torn apart The country would be in chaos and it would take time to rebuild a strong country For these reasons the Republican Party promotes improving the defense of this country George W Bush the republican presidential candidate has proposed many plans to help rebuild the defense On a republican website he proposes improving troop morale and investing in research and development Troop morale consists of giving better pay better benefits and better training to the soldiers He plans to spend billions of dollars in salary increases and in renovating military housing - 1 - - 2 - He also hopes to invest billions on research and development I agree with his plans and I believe that more sophisticated weapons are needed on the battlefields In a speech he says It is not enough to spend more we must spend more wisely Americas forces in the next century must be agile lethal readily deployable
