In The crying of lot 49 and the graduate are stories that take place in California in the 1960s The main characters in the crying lot of 49 are Oedipa Mass Mucho Mass Metzger Dr Hilarius and Pierce In the Graduate the main characters are Ben Braddock Mrs Robinson and Elaine Robinson The point of the story of The crying lot 49 was Oedipa got a letter from her ex-boyfriend Pierce who died and named her executor of his estate She traveled to Pierces hometown San Narcisco because of the letter In the movie the Graduate Ben Braddock just graduated from college and he has no idea what he wants to do in life I will be comparing and contrasting these two stories about their livesOedipa Mass is the wife of Mucho Mass and they live in Kinneret California When she came home from a party she received a letter from her ex-boyfriend Pierce who was a rich real estate agent but now dead Oedipa went to San Narcisco where Peirce lived on the letter it said that Oedipa is to become the executor estate of Peirce She left her husband all alone Mucho Mass use to be a used cars salesman and now he works at a radio station Oedipa was not very satisfied with her husband because he does not help her at all When Oedipa arrives at San Narcisco she went to check in a hotel called Echo Courts She met a man named Miles who was in a band called The Paranoids and hotel manager Later at night a man named Metzger helps out Oedipa with the executing the estate Metzger was having a difficult time with Peirce executor estate He started to have a weird conversation with Oedipa about his childhood stories They started to drink a lot of tequila and Metzger started to ask questions to Oedipa which she had to strip down her cloths anytime he ask
