Babes in Toyland Babes in Toyland was recently preformed at Lacordaire Academy by KT productions in Montclair New Jersey It is a seasonal play for Christmas which includes toys which come to life The play was consistent with the original version with only minor adjustments here and there The audience was a bit tentative before the play as many of the audience members were children because of the content of the play Also the play started ten minutes late which added to chaos The play was not sold out to my surprise because it only ran for two days Once the play began the children quickly settled down and were very happy to learn that Santa Claus was in attendance Despite the low budget of the play which was evident the stage was set up nicely and economically It had two pieces which were constructed of wood and turned to make a new stage with each following act There was much singing involved and the music was coordinated near perfection They also had a person on the piano to make individual tunes to depict danger or other things such as a thought or thunder There was not much lighting involved but the play did not require it Overall the characters did a very good job at their respective positions I was not too fond however at some of the characters because I felt that they could have done a better job Due to the nature of the play there were many children acting in the play along with a few adults The intermission came quicker than expected coming just 40 minutes into the play I was relieved however because the intermission only lasted 10 minutes When the play resumed I was astonished that they changed the setting with the curtains open I have no idea why this was done but it was the only time during the scenes in which
