The topic I chose was Attachment Styles by Mary Ainsworth The first style is secure attachment which is shown by normal distress when a mother leaves and happy enthusiasm when she returns The second is ambivalent attachment and this is when the infant is clingy and became very upset when the mother left The response from the infant when the mother returned was a mixed approach with rejection and anger The last attachment style is called avoidant attachment This is when the child would remain calm hen the mother had left and ignored her as she came back I decided to look at some studies done with attachment styles and substance useThe evidence I reviewed informed me on a lot of findings on attachment styles and substance use In one article it found that adult survivors of institutional abuse had high rates of trauma symptoms and insecure adult attachment styles Mood and substance use disorders are the most prevalent diagnoses for these victims of abuse In the second study the results showed that the effect of more secure attachmentstyles on substance use was mediated throughmaternal monitoring In the third study they found that avoidant and secure attachment styles are positively linked to drug use My last study found that avoidant adultattachmentwas positively correlated with alcohol dependenceSome evidence that support these findings are that they are all peer reviewed journals or scholarly journals They also all are studies that have been done in the past five years so they are updated I think that most of the articles and studies support these answers but there are some implications In one study it talked about how the results were limited from the amount of male participants Also a lot of the studies gave out questionnaires which arent always the truth In a questionnaire subjects have the ability to lie and down play their answers or exaggerate them as well Otherwise I think they found great results and
