The Boy with the Incredible Brain is a short film based around Daniel Tammet Daniel has an extraordinary ability to do math He can do calculations up to one hundred decimal points in his mind Daniel also has the capability to learn a foreign language in just a week Through this film viewers learn about the events of Daniels life that gave him this amazing gift and how he uses that special ability Daniel is a very interesting man and there are numerous questions I would ask during an interview but I think there maybe others like Daniel out in the world waiting to be discovered Daniels ability to do math goes far beyond the typical humans comprehension but the most amazing thing to me is the way he solves the math problems He experiences the answer in a very visual way When asked to answer a math question he describes seeing each number differently He illustrates each one to have a unique shape sound light or color It is astounding to watch Daniel work out these problems with complete accuracy sometimes even answering the question beyond the calculators capabilities Although there are a considerable amount of positives that have come from Daniels amazing gift the The Boy with the Incredible Brain video left me wondering what are the drawbacks of his great skill While the ability to learn as quickly as Daniel does sounds beneficial what are the negatives Many scientist that have examined him believe that the reason Daniel is a savant is because of his epilepsy as a child and his diagnoses with aspergers syndrome This leads me to wonder if he would rather stay the way he is now reaching his full potential intellectually or trade these diagnoses to be like the others around him While Daniel was mostly the one focused on a few other cases were mentioned throughout the video that were similar to him I do not believe
