The Aviator Review Catamount Film Arts Center St Johnsbury Main actors Leonardo DiCaprio Kate Beckinsale Cate Blanchett Alec Bladwin Alan Alda Ian Holm Danny HustonGwen Stefani Jude Law John C Reilly Director Martin Scorsese Rating PG-13 Genre Drama Plot Summary The Aviator was a magnificent story of the life of Howard Hughes that most people had no knowledge of The name stood out but not all the facades of his life Hughes Leonardo DiCaprio was a millionaire by the time he was 20 years old Through his own design in the oil drilling tool business he built his fortune He spent millions on his personal ambitions from the early 1920s to mid 40s while combating OBC and other mental disorders One could speculate that his sickness was instilled at an early age by his own mother Others might say it started later It was obvious Hughes was a very smart and ambitious entrepreneur who spent a lot of time making airplanes and movies His first debut was Hells Angels which took him three years to make but brought him a lot of fame After his second movie he abandoned movie making all together to pursue his true compassion for aviation He was obsessed with planes and he was determined to build TWA a commercial airline But he faced opposition from Senator Brewster from Maine played by Alan Alda and Pan-Am president Juan Trippe Alec Baldwin He was also determined to build high-speed aircraft and to fly faster and farther than any other man This he did and he almost killed himself while he was flying a very fast airplane that he built The movie also focuses on some of his romances One of these romances was with Katherine Hepburn Played by Cate Blanchett This romance started out nice but it ended up in a heated dispute when she left Hughes for another man He also had affairs with actresses Ava Gardner Kate
