In the book The Dark and Deadly Pool the main character MaryElizabeth Rafferty starts a new summer job at the luxurious RidleyHotel Here wealthy business women and men come to relax Things aregoing well until one dark and lonely night while cleaning out the menslocker room Liz hears a splash and decides to go investigate Whilesearching around the pool a ghastly shadow surges from the bottom of thepool A face with eyes and mouth wide in shock stares at Liz andtheir hand clutches the tip of her shoe Then the ghastly shadowdisappears After this surreal incident strange things start happeningat the hotel Things are being stolen and nobody knows why or who isorchestrating these incidents but what they do know is whoever isbehind this will go as far as murder to get what they want Liz isracing against the clock to solve this mystery before someone else iskilledThe setting of The Dark and Deadly pool takes place in the grandioseRidley Hotels health club With its coral green color design exoticindoor plants all in huge brass planters In the health club theres asmall room with weight equipment a dressing room for both men andwomen each having a large sauna in them as well as a bubbling Jacuzziand a glistening turquoise pool All surrounded by a white stone fenceMary Elizabeth Rafferty better known as Liz is a tall red headedclumsy teen All Liz wants is to be like normal teenagers and not standout Although she means well Liz finds it hard to be what she definesas normal Although she is very nice Liz is the kind of person whowants everyone to change the way she would like them to be and cantexcept them for who they really are While working at the Ridley Hotelshe befriends people who help her realize that there is no truenormal and that you cant change who you are In the novel
