"I enjoyed reading about your experience with the novel and it was interesting to learn why you wouldn't recommend the book to others. I recommend working within the first paragraph to craft a shorter and faster-paced opening: prioritize details that convey key information while also allowing you to hook the reader with the excitement. For example, when you introduce Jim, you can use "fourteen-year-old Jim Hawkins...", allowing you to cut the later sentence explaining this.

I encourage you, also, to use your example from "The Attack," which you describe as "the most exciting part," to explain why the "Last Trip" quotation isn't working for you. Another area to explore is the effects of the illustrations versus the effects of the "long" descriptions on creating mental pictures (bottom of page 2). This shows your ethos as the reader and critic by explaining how the contrasts between what the story does well and what it fails to do informs your final judgment."
