What was once taken for granted and seen as a never-ending resource is now becoming one of our greatest issues we are running out of water In this article Water Incorporated The Commodification of The Worlds Water Maude Barlow discusses the global issue of water scarcity In recent years our consumption of water has doubled at a rate that cannot keep up with the growing human population and it is only just beginning Thousands of people currently suffer in surrounding countries due to an extreme lack of water and it is said that the amount of people to suffer will rise with the next coming years not only in developing countries but the US as well The idea that we do not have enough water to supply the earths population is frightening enough but Barlow goes on to explain an even deadlier concept Water for profit With the upcoming shortages high end water corporations are attempting to control our earths flow and supply of water through international trade and investment agreements They are in essence buying out one of the earths most vital yet dwindling resources and putting a price tag on it but people have already began to fight this Companies and corporations have already begun suing for access to water sources as it is a fundamental human right and is sacred to all lifeBarlow demonstrates his use of logos in this article by presenting us with factual evidence that gives the audience a solid background on his ideas and forms an informative and strong argument that is logical He goes on to support her ideas by explaining how many countries are faced with water related issues such as deprivation and scarcity everyday by providing his audience with several statistics He conveys the vitality of water and its value to humanity but also implies the idea of how we have taken this privilege of water for granted Maude Barlow states One Canadian water company
