A Child Called It is an autobiography by David Pelzer who was a victim of child abuse The book opens with David being freed from his abuser and his lifestyle His mother from a young age till fifth grade abused and tormented him As a young child David has extremely positive and happy memories of his mother from trips to museums to picnics in the park Things quickly change because the mother is a drunk and takes the frustration out on the children Later David is the only child who is abused and his brothers are no longer punished or mistreated The mother starts with smashing Davids head into the mirror but only when the father is not home After a while the mothers beaten are worst and David arms is pulled out of place The mother then lies to the father and doctors about his injury The mother becomes more creative with her cruelty and beats David continuously and he suffers from many injuries The mother would not feed David and if she did it would be leftovers from his brother food Eventually David stole other childrens lunch at school and became know as a troubled child at school Because he stole lunches the other kids did not like him and he quickly became an outcast He was caught several times and the principal called him mother with resulted in even more cruel punishment She would not allow him to take baths nor wear clean clothes to school David later came up with plans to steal food from the grocery store and also frozen food from his school which he was caught and suffer significant punishment The mother would not beat and torment David in front of her husband which did not last long The father would argue with his wife about the way she treated David and he lost the arguments which David suffered for it The father would sneak David food The
