The story starts off in a Halloween party where a girl named Joyce was found dead with her head drowned in a bucket of water mysteriously A detective story starts here One of the guests Mrs Oliver asked the help from her friend the detective Hercule Poirot to solve the murder The more Poirot tried to investigate about the incident the more secrets he found out The murder of Joyce was thought related to another murder This prediction was due to Joyces mention in the beginning of the story I saw a murder once I didnt know it was a murder when I saw it Something that somebody said only about a month or two ago suddenly made me think Of course that was a murder I saw And this give the idea of why Joyce was dead By discovering the relationship between the two murders Poirot researched and interview different people who are somehow related to the murder that he believed Joyce witnessed The detective Hercule Poirot is a typical detective whos observant and careful It was not very characteristic of Hercule Poirot to ask the opinions of others He was usually quite satisfied with his own opinions But when he found out who the murderer was it would give me solace and support if someone whose opinion I respected agreed with them By this even though he normally wouldnt consult others opinion he wanted to be sure and careful After he heard of the murder and what Joyce said in the party Poirot did some research and came up with a list of suspected murder that Joyce might have seen This suggests that hes organized and doesnt just interview random people but theres a motive behind His method of solving a crime is through interviewing different people who had different point of views and by that he judges who was telling the truth In my opinion I find this book fairly
