During the late 1960s and early 1970s was a tough time to be raised in Vietnam it was in a time of war during this period in history that made a huge impact on everyone in this country Cu La was born on the 2 of May in 1961 in his family were a total of fourteen people including himself and his parents The bigger the family the more mouths there wereto feed During this time La and his brothers were forced to grow up extremely fast and put to work at an early age It is a dark reality common in developing countries like Vietnam where poor children are withdrawn from school to become bread-winners for their families 1 Being brought up with family responsibilities at such a young age and having his childhood taking away from him Mr La was still able to find the time to be a kid and enjoy himself Even though boys and girls are not free to do what they want at the time 2 With having to grow up so fast La still found time to be a child and do what kids do be young wild and free but also having to keep in mind that he had responsible as well It is not easy being a kid but it was even hard to grow up and having the responsibility of providing for a large family at such a young age In Vietnam during this time period was an extremely hard time it was during the time of war The Vietnam War was the prolonged struggle between nationalist forces attempting to unify the country of Vietnam under a communist government and the United States with the aid of the South Vietnamese attempting to prevent the spread of communism 3 During this time the men of the family in Vietnam was being drafted to fight for or against their country This has huge impacts on the families
