In the article The Important of Multicultural Education the author Geneva Gay makes several good points Many of these points I agree with however some I do not The first valid point I think she makes is when she is arguing about how many educators simply cannot have the time to teach multicultural education in their classrooms Gay quotes a hypothetical teachers response to this and states one might say School curriculums are already overburdened What do I take out to make room for multicultural education This is because school curriculums are already loaded with so much to teach students and teachers alike are overwhelmed with even that and it is difficult to find room for a new concept in the curriculum I agree with this point because of my own experience in grade school However I do think that multicultural education is something that should be worked into the curriculum somehow I think that the way the United States is leaning towards with many minorities and people from other cultures coming to this country it is important to give children of all backgrounds the appropriate instruction and educationLater in her article the author gives specific examples of how multiculturalism can be worked into current schools curriculum I think these ideas are very helpful things like using probabilities with ethnic demographics would not only be teaching a child mathematics they would also be learning multiculturalism in a unique way In addition when people learn to appreciate another culture they not only gain knowledge they also gain the ability to understand how people unlike them live
