For the past three decades there have been a multitude of events that made national news that resulted in the deaths of people in massive amounts by gunfire Some of these events include the McDonalds massacre in 1984 in California the Lubys massacre in October 16 1991 in Killeen TX the Columbine shootings on April 20 1999 in Columbine CO the Virginia Tech massacre on April 16 2007 the Geneva County massacre on March 10 2009 the Binghamton shootings on April 3 2009 that left 13 people dead not including the shooter the July 20th shooting at the Aurora Century 16 Movie Theater in 2012 and the Newtown CT Sandy Hook shootings on December 14 2012 Each time tragic events of these measures unite as well as divide the nation in the struggle to determine what needs to be done to make sure things like this do not happen again Obviously this solution has yet to be reached Since this nation was built on the Constitution of the United States in 1787 at the Philadelphia Convention adjusting the clauses and rights of American citizens is hard to do even for the President In the second amendment of this constitution it states A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed Second Amendment-US Constitution Within the timeframe of January 14 2013 and March 27 2013 the United States Vice President Joseph Biden has made recommendations to adjust the gun control laws currently in place in the United States In the article The Moment for Action on Guns the author makes the argument in support of altering the current guidelines to sell and buy weapons and ammunition In reading this article I found that the author was successful in not only getting his or her point across to the readers but in persuading them to join his argument in support
