Ladies and Gentlemen of the United States congress Mr Vice President and my fellow Americans earlier today Sunday December 7th of 1941 the Japanese attacked us The Japanese destroyed many of the ships in the Pacific navy base of Pearl Harbor including the USS Arizona as well and many others and killed more than two thousand four hundred of your servicemen protecting your freedom As well as destroying ships and human lives the Japanese also crippled our Air Force sector by destroying many planes in Hickam Field on the island of Honolulu We have tried reasoning with the Japanese government about their expansion in raw material rich territories such as parts of Indochina and East Indies With the Japanese not complying with our pleas to withdraw from Indochina we were forced to place embargos on raw materials the Japanese replied on like aviation gasoline steel as well as scrap iron In July of this year the Japanese invaded southern Indochina which forced the United States to freeze all of the Japanese assets including complete petroleum embargo meant as a scare tactic to warn the Japanese but later became final Even after this dilemma we still tried reasoning with the Japanese but ultimately the Japanese replied to our glorious nation with complete disagreement although with our decoding tool Operation MAGIC we had already learned the Japanese terms were never to be employed but before we could warm our Pacific Base of Pearl Harbor the attack had already begun Also as I give this speech to you right now the Japanese military is attacking other places such as Wake Island Guam Malaya and even the Philippines My fellow Americans we must fight this totalitarian regime and not let an act of war such as bombing and killing many of our beloved servicemen go unanswered We must strike back even harder than they struck us and let them know the strength of the American people never waivers This
