When I was a little girl driving past a farm my legs would bounce my hands would flap and I would beg my parents to stop so I could see the neigh-neigh even then I was obsessed with horses There isnt a particular moment where I can say Oh there thats when it all started Even before my first pony ride I needed to feel the horses mane between my fingers I think horses are a type of animal that you either love or hate Some are deathly afraid terrified of even being in the same vicinity of the beast Others could be mucking out stalls picking out hoofs brushing out manes and be content I fall into the latter However horses just havent been my obsession I have seen countless people fall in love with the majestic animal and have seen the said animal heal people Its truly a wonderful sight Where I ride they have a program called horse ability disabled children can ride for free as a means for therapy This isnt a scam or a new age philosophy this is real and its a wonder to see a child light up at the prospect of riding a horse I have had the honor of volunteering in the program and its something that I truly believe in especially after watching it first-hand Knowing what horses have done for me it is truly magical when you can combine love with healing Horses are powerful creatures but they are so much more than that They are loving intelligent and loyal to the rider They are considered wild beasts because they are an entity in which you cannot control that scares people Yet when a child with cerebral palsy is placed on a black and white pony named Oreo and they are led around the ring that is not a wild beast it is a best friend When the pony lets the children brush out
