No child should be denied a family as no family should be denied a child Everyone would probably agree with that statement This is not a controversial issue but the topic of adoption by same sex couples is Sexual orientation is not a good reason to deny someone a job saving lives in a hospital or fighting for their country so it should not be a reason to deny them a family Despite many peoples feelings on same sex couples denying gay and lesbian couples the right to adopt children leaves thousands of children without parents each year and steals the security of two legally recognized parents not to mention that the 50 divorce rate of heterosexuals creates an unstable environment for the children involved The first laws concerning adoption in America were brought about in 1851 in Massachusetts but just over a century later the game changed A new family form gay couples came into the picture in the 1970s Legal nd The number of children in the waiting on a real family is a staggering 129000 Each year 25000 children age out of the foster care system without ever having a permanent home End 2008 Since there is such a desperate need for adoptive and foster families people are beginning to open their minds to the idea of a family with two moms or dads With the opening of minds comes the opening of hearts The Last decade has seen a sharp rise in the number of lesbians and gay men forming their own families through adoption artificial insemination and other means because of this more children know the love of a family American nd There are people who argue that children who are adopted by gay couples are denied a full family unit Others are stuck in the belief that what their religion says is the only option Many of these people do not believe that homosexuals can be Christians and that
