Too Little Too Late Excitement fills the air on the night of Thursday the 18 There is the old familiar roar and glow of the football stadium right before the game This was not any game though this game was going to prove to the world that any adversity no matter how large can be overcome with enough patients and will-power Neil Perry is returning to the field after three years out due to a tragic injury that took his leg With the thud of the opening kickoff the game was underway The Spartans were receiving against Nevada The game was set to be close both teams had talent and a desire to win the WAC championship There was no real underdog Nevada quickly seized the momentum of the game but not before the Spartans kicked a field goal The first quarter was almost over and still no Neil Perry Perry only plays on the punt return team and the Spartan defense could not hold Nevadas offensive line All Perry could do is sit and try to keep his teams sprits up The half ended with a huge interception by G Jones that resulted in a 99-yard runback for a touchdown Despite the interception the game did not look good for the Spartans at the end of the second half they were down 10-28 The second half started slow for San Jose giving up a touchdown right off the bat The momentum soon shifted the Spartans way after a returned kickoff A touchdown soon followed Defense started to step up and finally put together a hold Soon after the start of the fourth quarter the much awaited Neil Perry stepped onto the field He was only in for one play but it was one of the most inspiring plays in football I have ever seen It is just proof of what people are capable of overcoming when they have passion and heart If you
