American Folklore The Palatin This Folktale was about a ship off the shores of Rhode Island The ship was carrying passengers and cargo to the state when it hit rough weather When the storm had died out the passengers had realized that the crew had murdered the captain and were holding them hostage For days they charged the hostages high amounts for food and necessities One day the passengers woke up to find that all of their belongings had been stolen and the crew was gone So not knowing what else to do they decided to paddle back to shore and burn the ship so it wouldnt crash into another ship in its path As they were paddling away from the burning ship they hear the screaming of a woman who had apparently been left on the ship Until this day they say if you look off the shores of Rhode Island you see a ship appear then catch on fire and disappear Wait Until Emmit Comes A preacher was on his way home when darkness settled so he decided that he would stay the night in an old mansion that was presumed haunted However he believed God would be him so he did not worry about it Therefore when he got in he set up the fireplace and sat down As he was reading his Bible he saw several cats come up to him all at different times They would play with the fire then come up to him and say something to the effect of Wait Until Emmit Comes Finally after several times of this occurrence the preacher finally got up and said good night to the cats and to tell Emmit he was there but decided to leave Coyote and The Colombia Coyote was very hot one day so he asked for clouds That wasnt good enough so he asked for more shade then rain and then a
