A DOLLS HOUSE On October nineteenth at eight oclock PM I went to the Hilberry Theatre in Detroit to see a play that was written by Henrik Ibsen in 1879 called A Dolls House A Dolls House is a dark comedy about Nora Helmers comfortable life which is in jeopardy In an effort to keep a secret from her husband Nora comes to a courageous decision that could change her life and happiness forever The ticket cost was seven dollars It was directed by Edward G Smith and performed by the actorsactresses Tyla Abercrumbie as Kristina Nikki Ferry as maid Christopher Kurtz as Krogstad Christopher Gilbert as Torvald Christi Marsico as Nora and Matt Sawyer as Dr Rank Mrs Nora Helmer is a loose brained housewife of the Victorian era Nora does not have any comprehension of the value of money or children all she knows is that when you have money you are rich and can spend it and children are there for her enjoyment Her husband Mr Torvald Helmer just got promoted to Manager of the Savings Bank and tells Nora his little skylark that even though he is making more money she still cannot spend it all without thinking During the Christmas holidays her old friend Kristina a widow for three years comes over to visit and they sit and reminisce about the past and what is now going on in the present Nora tells Kristina that she spend a lot of money from her now pasted away father to go to a trip to Italy to save Torvald from overload from his last job in a governmental post Panic later hits Nora when the banker Nils Krogstad come to inform Nora that the signature on the contract for which she signed to receive the money from her father was her own In addition the date was signed three days after her father died making it a clear forgery Krogstad threatens Nora
